HANDYMAN FRANCHISE

What a few of our members say about their Handyman Franchise

Hi my name is Chris, I have been in the franchise for nearly two years. I did not know any of the team before. Prior to joining I was in the corporate world but did not want stay there until I retired. I wanted to use the skills I'd developed over the years having completely renovated three properties. The low start up cost, the support I was given and still get, the networking with others and knowing I could help others whilst making some money were what appealed to me and still do. The work I've done is as varied from a complete house redecoration to mowing a lawn and putting up a shelf. The beauty is that no day is the same. Over the past year I have come to realise there is a massive market out there and that this handyman franchise is a business opportunity second to none. Three key words to keep in mind and you will succeed - Reliable, Honest, Courteous.

Hi, I'm Dean and I cover the Solihull area. I am one of the "newbies". I had been looking for a franchise for over 12 months and chose Around The House. The reason, I could see there was a "gap" in the market, relative low start up costs compared to other franchises and good back up facilities. I don't have a speciality, but I have carried out full refurbishment of two properties of my own and gained skills on the way. I also have contacts for roofing, electrical work and plastering. I hope to build the business up and recruit one, maybe two other people..

Hi everyone, I'm Chris, 27 years old, studied Electrical Engineering and gained basic skills in Welding, Steel fabrication, Electrical Installations, etc. I have also studied Computer Programming, Operations and Maintenance. I have been in sales most of my career and have held various sales & management positions in the Electrical Retail, Insurance & Security Sectors. I have good all round DIY skills and have enjoyed altering and developing my own property. I had been enjoying it that much that it was about time to get away from being stuck behind a desk, hence the reason for joining Around The House.

Even before they began operating Chris & Brian sent this message: "I am sure you will be pleased to hear that, before we officially start and with only one advert going in a local monthly magazine, we have several jobs lined up. These have all come from different sources; website, advert and the livery on the van..."

At the end of the second week we asked Brian for a summary of how things were going: Extremely well. We have had such an assortment of jobs already. People like us and want to use us because we appear like true professionals, smartly uniformed, clean smart van, good leaflets and marketing etc.. I knew as soon as I saw this opportunity I said to Chris: "this is it, this is where the future is going!" It's definitely proving to be the case!

Hello All. I'm Simon. My story before joining Around The House was like many people these days, employed  for 6 years and the company changed the senior manager and from then on my days were numbered. I tried to find work, but at 50 years of age forget it. In March last year I started looking at self employment and in particular franchises. The only one that met all my requirements was Around The House. The work is out there, it is just a matter of "getting your  (or someone else's!) hands dirty", mine have been from cleaning gutters, gardening, tree work and clearance with the van. My hope is to expand the business and really put Around The House on the map in my area.

Augustine Woo, Herts
Hi, I joined Around The House after working in IT for a television company for 5 years. I was thinking of striking out on my own to do IT support/consultancy for small businesses and home users. I stumbled across Around The House purely by chance. I had looked at a few franchises in the past, but was in the process of planning my IT business, and the more I thought about it the more sense it made. I have had experience of renovating a couple of properties, and thought why just narrow my market to IT services when there is a huge market out there for handyman services too. I hope to build the business and move away from the hands-on handyman stuff once I have recruited some capable handymen/ women! At the moment I'm getting so much business that I could be working flat-out 7 days/week!
