Most franchises are normally quite expensive to buy into, however we have a system in place that provides opportunities for you to begin at low cost with much less risk. You can be up and running almost immediately if you already have basic tools and a suitable vehicle.

If you are in the home services business already or are seeking a new franchise opportunity we would like to chat with you. Suited to all skill levels, we have the knowledge and expertise to help you establish a successful business. As a Franchisee you will become a "co-owner" of the Brand, exclusive to you in your area.

How our franchise works:

Step 1: The entry level is to join as a Licensee. You gain most of the benefits such as an exclusive territory, unique leads and full support but at this stage there are no minimum commitments or ties other than 3 months notice.  It's like a trial period that enables you to start at low cost with the minimum of risk and helps both of us get to know each another before forming a long term relationship.

The license is for three years and costs £1200 (one off fee) and then £95/month. Other costs are usually less than £300.00 depending on how many vehicles and staff you have. You will need to adopt the franchise livery on vehicles, uniforms, paperwork (invoices, cards etc.) within 12 months. A migration from your own trading name (if any) is acceptable, as is co-branding until the time that you take a full franchise.

Our main objective is to help you establish a successful Business under a Brand which in time will be worth far more to you than being an independent trader.

Step 2: After 6-12 months or anytime during the following two years you may upgrade to a full franchise . The current cost is £6,000 and part financing is available with 0% interest on half the fee over 24-36 months. Banks also tend to look favourably at as high as 90% financing if the business has been running for a year or more. What you are paying for at this stage is a co-ownership of the brand and a permanent territory in which only you can offer services.

Earnings?

If starting as a sole trader our objective is to help you grow your business to the point of earning at least £35-45,000 p.a. within two years. Some have achieved much more than this, running to six figures. It largely depends on what services you offer.

Many members have several skills that cover most of the services that you see here and do very well from the outset, but training is available to all and sub-contracting for all handyman companies is permitted provided you "open and close" the client (i.e. take full responsibility for the project, quote and invoice).

What some of our existing handyman members say
(you are welcome to contact them for a chat or to verify these details).

Money well spent, enquiries are genuine and close rate is currently 3.5/6. Team is excellent, always there to help. Not once do I regret joining it has more than paid for itself. Anybody who needs confirmation on how good it is feel free to call me anytime. Richard Clarke, Sheffield

I have been with The Handyman Group for the last two and a half years and it has yielded me a constant stream of business. I would advise anyone in, or looking to start in this industry to sign up NOW. Graeme Hudspith, Dorking

From the 1st few days of joining, the calls and enquiries started, as each month went by we had even more and over the years have gained a lot of regular customers, also knowledge and advice from other members through the networking forums. WELL WORTH THE OUTLAY. Richard Cox, Chester

It's good to be part of something rather than out on your own. Still your own boss but with back up! Web presence is excellent. Graham Paice, Beaconsfield.

I hold the License for Bath. I work hard, as you will have to, but the rewards are there to be reaped. Hardly a day goes by without an enquiry of some sort, you won't get them all but you will get the majority of them. You will be surprised by the number of people who are so happy just to see you! If you're still not sure about joining this franchise, have a word with any of the members on the site. I'm sure you'll find we are more than happy with the service provided by the Team at HQ. Rob Twyford. Bath

It can be tough setting up in business and now, in my third year of trading, i have found my feet and established a good customer base. the future certainly looks bright even in the current trading conditions. the back-up received in relation to marketing and the website, particularly in the early days, has helped immensely with my achievements. Steve Marin, Trowbridge

I am now in my fourth year with the franchise and the key for me has always been the support from central office which has been and continues to be invaluable along with being able to network with other members covering various topics from "How do you do this etc." to just having a general chat.. Thanks to contacts made I have built up a regular customer base of approx 250 - 300 people and numerous commercial contracts including letting agencies and businesses which have proved invaluable in this current climate.  If you are looking to build and invest in a business and don't mind hard work and have commitment and determination, then this is the one for you. If you join this Franchise I know you won't regret it. Chris Williams, Basildon.

Work and Jobs; employers & seekers.

If you are seeking to find work you are welcome to contact our local teams to see if there any current vacancies. Please use the online contact forms rather than call as most are busy during the day. Leave them a message and they can get back to you.

Job seekers: have you considered self-employment?  We are primarily a franchise that helps members to establish new businesses around the UK. If you have ever thought about becoming self employed we would encourage you to download the details and to enquire here about the opportunities that exist with us. Why work for others when you can be your own boss and control your destiny?.
